Dear Parents/Guardians:
Hello! It is my pleasure to introduce myself. I am Ms. Camejo and will be teaching first grade. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your child to a new year at St. Brendan's.
I am looking forward to getting to know you and your child throughout the coming year, which surely promises to bring with it, many new experiences and challenges. In order to make the year a successful one, teamwork and cooperation will be required by all. As your son or daughter’s teacher, it is my goal to help him/her become a confident learner and I will do my best to help make this year a positive experience for your child.
In our class your children will receive instruction in English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Art and Religion in our classroom. In addition to our everyday lessons in these subjects our class will have:
Gym- Tuesday
Music- Tuesday
Art and computers- alternating Thursdays
Our first grade class will be assigned homework regularly. Students will write down homework assignments in the homework notebook. In addition to homework it is important that the children read every evening, so please spend time reading with them. They will have a nightly reading log to fill out. Every month they will receive a new one. They will receive weekly vocabulary words on Monday and have homework on them throughout the week. On Fridays they will be tested on them.
If your child is absent, please check the class notes page to make up missed work. Also check our google classroom page. All assignment links will be there.
Your child will bring home a 2-pocket folder, supplied by you everyday for notices, papers etc. Please check the folder daily.
I have attached our classroom rules as well as our goals for this school year. Please review them and go over them with your child.
I look forward to working in partnership with you throughout the coming year and I am confident that together we can provide the support and encouragement needed to help your child excel. If you have any questions now or at anytime in the future, don’t hesitate to contact me at the school at 718-653-2292. You can also send me an email at [email protected] or put a note in your child’s folder. I will get in contact with you as soon as possible.

When a student breaks the rules they have made a poor choice. In an attempt to decrease instances of poor choice-making the students and I discuss the mistake and why it is necessary to follow the rules. We make a plan to make sure that in the future rules are followed. Continued poor choices may result in loss of a privilege such as game time or quiet sit down during recess for 5 minutes.
