-FAMILY ENGAGEMENT ACTIVITIES/TRANSPORTATION STUDY:
WEEK 1: Create a vehicle or some type of transportation out of boxes. You probably have lots of empty boxes left over from the holidays. This project is a great way to recycle and get rid of some of them. Help your child make a vehicle of their choice...a car, a boat, an airplane.... send it to school when they are done.
WEEK 2: Take or draw a picture to create a story about how your child gets to school everyday. Send it into school so we can have a show and tell.
WEEK 3: Discuss and role play any community helper that you may see in your community. Draw, make, create the vehicle that they may use/drive. Example: firefighter/fire engine.
WEEK 4: Look around for all the different types of signs we use in Transportation for example, Stop sign, One Way, Do Not Enter etc... Discuss the importance of them and help your child make them. Hang them up in your home.
MATH:
Building Blocks Week14: Have your child draw something in your house that is a rectangle. Ask your child what he or she drew. They then can take the rectangle and make a fire truck out of it.
SEPTEMBER 2020
Pre-K is an exciting and busy time. It is a time to make new friends and learn new things such as literacy, science, math, art, social studies etc.. There will be lots of firsts, for example - leaving mommy and daddy all day, eating lunch at school and daily music and movement. It is a big adjusment for students and parents alike but we will get through it together, especially this unique year. By June we will be able to say we've worked, played, made new friends, and stayed safe along the way.
I am looking forward to working with you and your child in a child- centered, safe and fun-filled enviroment. The students will be encouraged to learn and grow through play and various activities which will help them develop cognitively, emotionally and socially.
If at any time during the school year you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. You can be assured that we will work closely with you and your child to assure a good, positive and safe experiance at St. Brendan School.
