✏️Important Dates to Remember✏️
Multicultural Art Show- Please send in your child's art project on Monday, January 30th. Our show will be on Thursday, February 2nd at 1:30pm in the cafeteria, families are welcome!
Monday January 30th - Friday February 3rd Catholic Schools Week- Please See Activities for the week below.
Monday, January 30th: Favorite Character Day; Students may come to school wearing clothing with their favorite storybook, tv show or movie character. (No costumes please)
Tuesday, January 31st: Sports Day; Students may come to school dressed in their favorite sports team clothing.
Wednesday, February 1st: Wacky Wednesday; Students may come to school dressed in a silly hat, silly shirt or silly socks.
Thursday, February 2nd: Valentine's Day Cards; Students will be creating Valentine's cards for our community helpers.
Friday, February 3rd: Movie Day; students will enjoy a short movie with friends.

Children may start to arrive to school at 8:20 .. enter in the school driveway.
Our day begins at 8:30.
Our class dismisses from the school playground at 2:50pm.

How and why do we use different kinds of light?
Focus Question for Week 1: What kinds of lights are
around us?

Vocabulary to discuss with your child:
Week 1: candle, fire, flame, lamp, light, moon, rainbow, sun, stars, traffic light.
Week 2: dark, night, shade, nocturnal, sunglasses, clouds.
Week 3: day, eyes, heat, see, sight, power, solar, reflection.
Week 4: shadow, silhouette, weather, outline.

Family Engagement:
Week 1: Have your child paint or draw a picture of something they enjoy doing when the sun is out.
Week 2:Keep track of the day light and when it gets dark out. Discuss what animals come out during the day and at night.
Week 3: How many lights do you turn on during the day? Keep track and create a chart, discuss as a family.
Week 4: Create finger or hand puppets at home as a family.
Letter of the week: R for rainbow, red, rain, etc... Please help your child write this letter and help them sound it out.
Math: Building Blocks- Help them make a group of 2 and then make a group that has one more than 2.
Have your child draw something from home that's a rectangle. Ask your child about it.
ITEMS YOUR CHILD NEEDS FOR SCHOOL ASAP:
-2 sets of extra clothes labeled with your child's name in a clear zip lock bag, include underware, socks, shirt, and pull on pants.
-A labeled CRIB sheet for nap/resting mat.
-A labeled REGULAR size backpack, no mini or extra small backpacks.
-2 labeled folders.
-A healthy lunch in a SOFT labeled lunch box, if your child will not eat the school lunch.
-A family photo no larger then 4x6.
-2 blue cards and any important papers from the office/teacher that must be filled out.
Please DO NOT send your child to school with ANY of the following:
-Overalls or pants with buckels, buttons, belts
-Costume play jewelry or jewelry of any kind!
-Dangle earrings/post only
-Sandals or open toed shoes/sneakers work the best!
-Toys of any kind from home
-Candy/gum
-Electronics
IMPORTANT!
-PLEASE INFORM US ASAP IF YOUR CHILD HAS ANY ALLERGIES OR ANY MEDICAL CONDITIONS!
-PLEASE INFORM US OF WHO IS PICKING UP YOUR CHILD AT DISMISSAL! THEY MUST HAVE ID ON THEM!
-DONATIONS NEEDED: Our classroom can use tissue boxes, plasic clear gallon ziplock bags, paper plates, Pampers baby wipes, plastic forks/spoons, paper towels and napkins. We also enjoy plants in our classroom as well!
-Please remind your children daily about the importance of washing their hands with soap and water and how to use hand sanitizer. Practice this at home.
-Remind your chlidren to always tell their teachers if they have to use the bathroom or if they do not feel so good during the school day.
